Hi everyone! I am really interested in getting started with subtitling. I would love to gain some hands-on experience or even just learn more about how to break into this field. Does anyone have tips, recommended resources, or know of any beginner-friendly projects or platforms where I could start building experience? I would really appreciate any advice!
Thanks in advance!

May I suggest using a key skill of translators and searching the following forums for relevant information?

Start familiarizing yourself with subtitling software like Aegisub, Ooona and Subtitle Edit. Translate something short, a song, or a TV episode.

This book is ancient by this point. But I think most of its content is still relevant nonetheless.

P.S. Many subtitlers are having non-payment issues right now. This is apparently due to cash-flow problems experienced by big companies and, specifically, Hollywood production houses. If making a profit is your goal, it might not be the best time to dip your toes into the wonderful world of subtitling at this moment.
