- Spelt his name in lower case
- Asked for my WhatsApp and continued with the offer there
- Clearly unfamiliar with a translator's typical output. Wanted me to translate 16,000 words in 3 days.
- When I asked for credentials, he claimed "I assure you this is genuine, as for my details it’s online .Im [not I'm] the chief growth officer of Transperfect.Motion recruitment as partnered with me in other to get this project done" - I found the person he claims to be on LinkedIn and his name is "Kevin" not "Kelvin"
- He sent me a document from a customer without me having to sign an NDA first

A month before, I recieved an E-mail similar to this; they wanted me to translate around 45 pages in just 4 days!!
They kept asking for my Bank account details; of course as they are crooks looking for stealing money.

in addition to poorly written emails, unrealistic promises (rates), or making payments to get work.
All this is usually enough to steer clear of their traps!

Yes, you're totally right! I just wish I hadn't wasted the time crafting a beautiful offer email, haha. Oh well, I hope my experience will help other people.
