( Workspree: http://workspree.org/) as a " Project Manager". The initial contact was on the TM-Town messaging system, then I was asked to keep the connection via their email. ( Workspree: http://workspree.org/) as a " Project Manager". The initial contact was on the TM-Town messaging system, then I was asked to keep the connection via their email. The offer was to translate a movie script for an acceptable price or so I guessed ( Word Count: 22,117 words (145 pages), Budget: $5,300, Payment Rate: 0.24 per word ).
At first, I felt it was fine and looked reasonable and safe. Especially, since there would be a contract and a first payment after a reasonable part of the workload ( 44 Pages/ 145 Pages). Then, I thought as always, that I have to have a safe check for the company's profile and work.
I couldn't find anything regarding the company's profile on the BlueBoard on Proz.com. I also found other feedback on the scam forum regarding the company. That's why I was sure that it was a scam.
Still, I sent them an email to get more information about the company and the payment methods they use and they sent me the website link I provided above and that they use " international wire transfers/bank transfers". So I turned the task down.
So, safety checks first, and I wanna thank you for the scam forum. It is helpful.
That's why I published my experience as well for others to benefit from
All the best to all of you. And, I wish you plenty of good, reliable job offers ahead.
Kind regards,

Thanks, Teresa! Good luck to you too.
Yes, I saw the thread you mentioned, and that's how I figured out the offer was a scam.
We must keep sharing this advice and cases to raise awareness about these offers and fake companies.
Best of luck for all of you.

Above average rate. Got the contract.
The law firm seems to be in the UK, Paris and Nigeria with a US phone number that does not work.

Just received the same offer from them through TM-Town. Same wording for the email, same amount of words in the document and same amount of payment. Clear red flags.
Thanks for making this thread, I was considering investing time in their project, that would have been quite the waste around the holidays. I suspect their catch is to get your personal data through the contract they claim to send over, so I would advise against filling out any data in that contract, or on their website... The high rate is suspiscious, plus they don't require any translator background check. That is definately a scam to phish for personal data via that supposed contract signing.

Last few months we keep on seeing scammers using TM-Town as their hunting ground, we keep on posting forum threads warning about them, and we keep on asking for them to be blocked, yet it seems nobody reads any of these multiple topics.
IMPO it seems TM-Town doesn't care about scammers at all.
The sad part is that scammers are indeed very active in TM-Town; all the messages I get on that platform come from scammers. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Workspree.org Scam Trados Studio 2022 Freelance | The leading translation software used by over 270,000 translators.
