I was contacted by someone who is listed as a Proz.com user but whose profile I cannot check with my membership. (I could give a name, but I don't know if that is considered proper, since I'm not sure whether this is for real or not.) The file I was asked to translate looks suspiciously similar to one I saw in the past that was a scam: a French-to-English job about research on procedures of public organizations, talking about the difference between competition and conflict, etc. Besides the simi... I was contacted by someone who is listed as a Proz.com user but whose profile I cannot check with my membership. (I could give a name, but I don't know if that is considered proper, since I'm not sure whether this is for real or not.) The file I was asked to translate looks suspiciously similar to one I saw in the past that was a scam: a French-to-English job about research on procedures of public organizations, talking about the difference between competition and conflict, etc. Besides the similarity to the other job, I wonder why someone listed as specialized in dentistry would be dealing with this topic. a 'Paul Rippy' - this is a Nigerian scammer.

As well as 'James Craford', 'YEONG SEOB', 'Philip Kincanon', 'Lokel Dias', 'Gohan Miol' etc etc etc...

I guess I've been lucky because, in 20 years of freelancing, this is the first real job scam I've actually been sent via Proz.com.

The whole thing stank from the beginning. No way to confirm any of the info this guy claimed on his "resume".
Profile "deleted" from Proz.com.
