No, actually for those of you living and working in the UK. Do you ever hold back invoices at the end of the tax year, i.e. do you send invoices for work completed in March after April 5?

Is this legal?
Mar 25, 2003
Hi Olaf,
I read somewhere (I think it may have been in the ITI Bulletin, but I\'m not sure) that this is illegal in the UK. Having said that, I don\'t see how the tax authorities would know when you actually did the work.
I am notoriously slow at writing invoices, and I get lots of calls from my customers at the end of December, begging me for them.
Marc

I can't see how it can be illegal

I actually state the delivery date on my invoices but if I forget to write an invoice, well, I am a very busy man. Clients often \"forget\" to pay too. These things happen. I am not talking about huge amounts of money or several months worth of jobs, just the last couple of weeks maybe. I like the idea of clients begging me to send them invoices, I think I\'ll try that.
