伝統工芸士 is a designation given by METI to expert craftspersons involved in 伝統工芸 (traditional arts). I am interested in finding the English terminology METI uses to describe this license.

METI-designated traditional craftsperson
Hidekazu Inoue, who IS a 伝統工芸士 himself, uses this on his bilingual website.

経済産業省認定 伝統工芸士 METI-designated traditional craftsperson.
I couldn't see any METI-specific terminology for the actual title, however METI does use "Traditional Craft Industry Office" for 伝統工芸品産業室 so it seems logical.
HTH a little.

Comment: "Thanks. There are other 伝統工芸士 who use other terms, and (as you note) METI doesn't appear to have official terminology. That said, this may well represent the best possible answer under the circumstances."
