German term

Korkleine

German to English Tech/Engineering Ships, Sailing, Maritime Marine biology
Kontext:

Mit der Korkleine mit den Fähnchen dran markieren wir die Kontrollflächen, damit wir sie bei den Probenahmen wieder finden können.“

I'm not quite sure if this is a rope with corks on, or what.

Swimming pool float border line

I think this is the most suitable term and just to be specific I put at the beginning "swimming pool..."
Note from asker:
Thanks, but as I tried to indicate with the fields of the question, this is about marine biology, so has nothing to do with swimming pools. I imagine this is more like some kind of fisherman's rope, although here it is being used to mark the plots where an experiment is being conducted in a lake/on a lake bed.
