neutral writeaway : sound engineer sounds the most idiomatic to me.

that has crossed my mind as well, but if this is an event with a live audience, the person in charge of the concert sound may not be the one in charge of recording

If the job title is referring to the person, rather than the equipment he is using or the job itself, then "recording technician"
