German term

abschleusen

German to English Marketing Marketing / Market Research
I am translating a PowerPoint Presentation dealing with business/marketing strategy and have run across the following expression: "Definieren und Abschleusen von Altwaren"

My instincts tell me that it has to do with "getting rid" of said "Altwaren". I would appreciate any insight and light that can be shed on the matter.

Many thanks in advance,

Sincerely,

Allan F. Wier II

Googling for "abschleusen" seems to indicate that (in addition to "passing a lock") it does indeed mean "getting rid of excess (or old) stock".

to abrade

I can find similar words in German, e.g. abreiben; abschleifen; abschaben; verschleißen; abschleuern, and they all translate
"to abrade" in English.....................
