German term

Kontaktkultur

German to English Science Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-)
"Eine Kontaktkultur, auch eine Abklatschkultur genannt".

This is a text about substantiating microbiological growth on the surfaces, by taking a culture.

What would be the proper term for this in English?
I have my doubts about "contact culture", since its not in Wenske and cannot be found in this context on Google.

TIA

contact plate sample

"Contact plates" appear to be well-defined equipment for obtaining bacterial culture samples; thus you may get around the obvious lack of a common name for the technique by using an expression like the above.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks to all on this difficult one. None of the suggestions get sufficient confirmation, either from Google or my smart books. I finally decided on "sample culture" since "Kontakt" => is indirectly a way of sampling, and sample culture at least is a frequently used term. This answer pointed me in what I think is the right direction."

I know nothing about this subject, Alexander, but maybe you can do something with this"

contact inhibition
Inhibition of cell membrane ruffling and cell motility when cells are in complete contact with other adjacent cells, as in a confluent culture. Often precedes cessation of cell proliferation but not necessarily causally related.

confluent
Where all the cells are in contact all around their periphery with other cells, and no available substrate is left uncovered.

Contact or kissing culture

I have come across the word Abklatschmetastase as contact (or even kissing!) metastasis. So could simple contact culture be sufficient
