German term

aufstellen

German to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
Of course, this is a common term, but I just can't seem to make sense of it in this context. Can you help?

Thanks, Alison
agree Francis Lee (X) : just though I'd refresh before bothering to post that answer - and lo and behold./ There we were, simultaneously thinking (and finding out) "what the ?§%! is Beiz here?" /JC's got the answer I was looking (in vain) for. Imagine the Arbeitsamt's response!

Thanks, Francis -- I did just the same ... the 'Quartierbeiz' threw me off. Funny language those Swiss speak.

Thanks, Tanja
agree jccantrell : I might phrase it as "worked as a pin setter." My father did that when HE was a kid, before all this new-fangled technology came into bowling alleys!

Thanks, JC, that might work.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Your answer was great, particularly with the addendum. I just failed to make the connection with the Kegelbahn, and it needed a fresh look at it from someone like you. Thanks a lot!"
