français term

accueillants

français vers anglais Autre Ressources humaines
describing people who welcome clients/participants to a space -- in this case a parent-child meeting space or playgroup.
The nearest I can come up with is host or facilitator, but neither seems quite right -- the latter too active, the former just not used in this context.

Discussion

Karenzo Apr 18, 2010:
Its a CV, there is no sentence - just this job title and the type of organization. I should have clarified that it is more than a receptionist or greeter, but less than a facilitator - they just kind of hang out with the parents and children. "Host" is really the most accurate term I can think of for what they do, but I'm just not sure we would normally it in such a context...
writeaway Apr 17, 2010:
I agree with Travelin Ann all anyone can see is your own description -welcoming people to a 'space'?? Please provide context and at least 1 full sentence in the source language, French.
Travelin Ann Apr 17, 2010:
Could you please post the full sentence, to give us enough context to try to match the register of the source text?

Thanks.

greeter / receptionist

Depends a bit on exactly what they do, and where they do it; 'receptionist' might be appropriate if they work behind a reception desk; otherwise, 'greeter' seems to have become something of a buzz word; perhaps replacing the older and no longer PC usher/ette, and of course, with a more modern connotation.

agree Travelin Ann : "Meeters and Greeters"//@mchd: Lots of ghits for "playgroup meeter and greeter," for example: http://www.lintongrantaplaygroup.org.uk/policies/admittingch...

Thansk, Ann!
agree Jonathan MacKerron : whatever we do we must eschew "facilitator"!!

Thanks, Clanola!

reception staff

Hosts or facilitators may have more specific childcare training than the people on reception.
Peer comment(s):

"friendly" ...
Peer comment(s):
