The train roof sandwich construction consisted of glass / vinyl ester skins either side of a cross-linked PVC foam core. The lay up comprised two layers of BTI ETLX1169 triaxial glass cloth on both sides, along with 100g/m chopped strand mat as a coupling agent between the laminate and the core. The 0° fibres in the glass cloth were oriented along the longitudinal axis of the roof. Continuous lengths of glass cloth were used between the roof ends and the ACU areas, with separate piece being required to achieve drape around the corners of the ACU well.
