Dutch term

een sterk parcours voorleggen

Dutch to English Other Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
Not familiar with this expression. Has a strong track record? X is a gearbox manufacturer.

X is zeer exportgericht: 96,9% van de omzet is voor export bestemd. In vijf jaar steeg het personeelsbestand in België van 500 naar 1000 personen en, waar de omzet in 2005 … euro bedroeg noteerde X dit jaar al een omzetcijfer van … euro. Ten slotte kan het bedrijf een sterk parcours voorleggen op het vlak van duurzaam en ethisch ondernemen: zo draait de fabriek in het Limburgse Lommel volledig op groene energie.

Discussion

MoiraB (asker) May 24, 2006:
Client has just explained it as follows: "Een sterk parcours voorleggen betekent dat ze hierin snel geëvolueerd zijn". Any further thoughts?
Ken Cox May 24, 2006:
with writeaway -- you could also say 'point to a proud record' or 'has demonstrated impressive results'. Belgian PR texts tend to be drenched with cycle racing metaphors.
writeaway May 24, 2006:
imho track record is fine. parcours in the sense of development.

or better yet (IMO) 'has made rapid strides'
Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : imho this is too wishy-washy.advanced rapidly is more postive.advances means there's still a way to go. not enough punch for marketing imho (brainstorming, not criticizing).imo, strong verb may be better than using noun

agree Tina Vonhof (X) : to make it stronger: has made tremendous strides. Don't think it needs to be a verb.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I like the 'strides' idea. Should perhaps have pointed out that this is part of an article intended for a general-interest magazine and is not specifically marketing-oriented. Though it is an opportunity for the company to showcase its achievements, of course. Thanks, everyone."
