Danish term

formand/dirigent

Danish to English Bus/Financial Accounting annual general meeting
Both of these are given as 'chairman'. Could anyone tell me the difference between the two? Both are present at an annual general meeting. Is the 'formand' the chairman and the 'dirigent' the director?
If someone wouldn't mind explaining I'd be grateful!
TIA,
Helen

Selected

chairman (e.g. of the board) / chairman of the meeting

I would have liked some context, but the solution might be as indicated above i.e.:

dirigent = chairman of the meeting

formand = chairman (of something else, e.g. the board)

Good luck!
Peer comment(s):

agree KirstyMacC (X) : or Chair(person) to be PC. Some Eng.-speakers refuse to refer to a person as a 'Chair'.
