The term is used in a University Course programme for teacher training at primary school level.
A quick search has brought up lots of examples where the term is translated literally into English as "didactic unit" but most of these are Catalan or Spanish-speaking based teaching resources/forums. My question is whether native speakers in primary school teaching would use "didactic unit" or whether they would refer to a "teaching unit" or something else...

I agree with you here - "didactic unit" is just not something that sounds natural in English. I've asked a couple of friends who teach and they say that "teaching unit" is what they'd use, unless specifically referring to a national curriculum unit
