I've just installed Wordfast, I've entered my target language and source language using the correct language code. When I type something and prompt wordfast for a translation I get nothing. can anyone help. I can't seem to get a grasp of this program.

Bill, I'm afraid you are expecting from Wordfast something which it is incapable of It will NOT translate texts automatically, you must do the translation yourself, and Wordfast will only help you to do the job.

CAT is not MT Sep 7, 2004

You might want to read this: http://www.proz.com/cat

And then, this might get you started (appart from Wordfast manual, which has a glossary at the end explaining the terminology used): http://www.your-translations.com/cat-wordfast.htm

Hi! in order to do this you have to have a source document and really translate it using wordfast, and generate a TM (Translation memory )in this process. In course of time, if your TM gets so big, that it starts suggesting possible translation for your source word / sentence etc., That´s how things go.

www.your-translations.com has been redesigned and the urls have changed.

http://www.your-translations.com/cat-wordfast.htm still exists, but it is not the most recent page.

Please go to www.your-translations.com and look in the Knowledge base.

Cheers,
Sylvain
