Mobile hotspot
Jun 6, 2020
Yes, I use a mobile hotspot from my cell phone provider (which is a different company from my home wifi provider). It's expensive, but I don't ever mean to give it up.
Two reasons:
1) My home wifi works for me only when I'm at home, obviously. I often need reliable wifi when I'm NOT at home. 2) My home wifi works only when we have power. Where I live, we have frequent power outages year round. And hurricane season began June 1.

Yesterday, a big storm hit our area and my internet went down in the middle of a court interpreting session where the court sent me three documents to read to the defendant. I tried tethering to my personal hot spot device (another provider) and it did not work. Eventually, I asked the court to instruct the defense attorney to read the documents and I was able to interpret them for the defendant.
I was lucky!

With 100GB. Once, workers cut optical cable while reconstructing heating network in town where I was; however it serves me more when I move around, phone's package is just not enought, if one stays for a couple of days in place with no Internet connection, such as weekend house on the mountain. In addition, some laptops do not see some brands of phones, and won't make hotspot.
