I have never used the flag option but I have used plenty the filter one on Kudoz for several reasons: 1. Askers who are rude; 2. Askers who post a series of questions, minutes apart, without looking in a dictionary. 3. Askers who give little or no context at all; 4. Askers who do not respond to requests for additional information. 5. Askers who leave questions open for years and years; 6. Askers who systematically close questions without grading because "answer found elsewhere" but do not say wh... See more

Filtering users ― a godsend Feb 14, 2022

Like Teresa, I've never flagged any users, but I keep adding to my ever-growing list of filtered ones (300+), including the serial, the hopeless, the blatantly non-native, the haughty, the utterly annoying.

If only there was a filter option for serial answerers...

Re. item 4 in Theresa's post, only yesterday I had to remind two separate 'vanishers' who disappeared after posting a KudoZ question and a Forum thread respectively. I find that kind of attitude truly irksome.

Re. item 4 in Theresa's post, only yesterday I had to remind two separate 'vanishers' who disappeared after posting a KudoZ question and a Forum thread respectively. I find that kind of attitude truly irksome. And disrespectful.

Re. item 5 in Theresa's post, because the KudoZ rules do warn that users will not be permitted to post new questions unless they close those that are still open, but do not mention how many open questions one can have before that rule is applied, I contacted Support. Before I did though, I checked seven random profiles of users/members appearing on the first KudoZ page in my language pairs at that moment. Well, all of them had open questions, ranging from 8 to 41 (forty-one!), the average open-KudoZ list containing between 15 and 20 questions, either with and without answers. Which is a lot, IMHO.
Here's the reply I received: 'The service to ask KudoZ questions will be revoked only in case the asker has ten (10) questions that have received valid answers and have been open for more than a week. In such a case, the asker will be asked to grade and close these questions to continue asking.
All users you have mentioned still may ask KudoZ questions because they do not have ten (10) questions that have received valid answers and have been open for more than a week.'
This cannot be right, surely.

I use neither flags nor filters. Mainly because it is basically one user in particular who keeps asking questions in a field s/he obviously knows nothing about. I find it unfair to our colleagues to swamp the KudoZ and forums with questions anybody with a little basic knowledge could answer themselves.

When I see someone post half a dozen questions in a row, then I simply ignore them. After all, I am not getting paid for doing their work. The only exception I would make is if a stud

When I see someone post half a dozen questions in a row, then I simply ignore them. After all, I am not getting paid for doing their work. The only exception I would make is if a student or a newbie to the industry asks relatively simple questions.

Don't Use Either One Feb 14, 2022

Rather than that, I would like to see moderators block comments on KudoZ from those who consistently, even without fail, obviously harass, in various ways, some of those who are kind enough to answer, and often quite accurately, the posted questions.
