I haven’t marketed actively my services for a long time. I did engage in active marketing when I started my translation career some 40 years ago, but in the meanwhile I’ve managed to build a good base of loyal and regular clients. Some of my current clients have come from my website, through Proz.com directory, by word of mouth and through recommendations of other translators. Social media are not my cup of tea at all.

My approach has been simply to always try to do my best, and with luck, satisfied customers will recommend you to others. For example, I initially started with one academic client in one university, about 15 years ago, and nowadays I collaborate with 8 or 9 universities and linked research institutions. My other direct clients also came to me by word-of-mouth recommendation.

I don't May 17, 2021

I don't actively search for customers, I have a good range of customers who keep me reasonably busy and a good network of translators in other language pairs with whom I swap favours when the occasion arises.

They find me. The clients that is. May 18, 2021

I have enough clients as is. It took a couple of years though.
Proz pro plus membership works and helped me to find some of my best clients...
