The following conditions have occurred:
work to be done, very long deadlines (so possibile days off) - no problem, things will arrive (and they did)
only once - no translations to be done (panic as soon as I sent the last translation)
fewer translations than usual - 2/3 days to get nervous if no translations arrive to reach the usual amount of work.

I have never been in this position as I always have work, being planned or requests for "in-between", really emphasising "Fortunately!"

I am rather picky AND have small children, so whatever it is, it needs to fit around the little ones, the whole point of me working from home is that they do not need another person to look after them.
I am lucky that for now, I don't need to bring money in, so I would not get worried quickly, I understand that lots of agencies will not ask me again if I have said 'no' once, but I love translating, so if I have nothing to do, I get nervous!

Usually after a couple of days.
A day off is nice, a second day is a luxury, a third day is just downright worrying.

I usually choose to work only on very large projects and I regularly take long breaks of several weeks between them. I would get nervous after two months of no job offers (but that never happens).

Im now able to be without work for 2-3 hours before I get nervous. cant wait untill I get to the point where I can relax a whole day

it's not so much that I worry about money coming in. It's just having no work! While it's nice to have a couple of days off, I get barmy after too long without work.
However, I barely had any work all summer. A couple of jobs here and there but it seems everyone was on vacation! However, it was summer and I had been very busy and planned to take some time off. And in the summer there's a lot more fun to be had so I went on bike rides and had fun.

... before getting nervous or starting to worry.
However, like Marlene, I get restless sooner, because I prefer to have something to do workwise or else I get bored quickly.
Last week I didn't have much but I currently have a book to translate with no deadline so that helps pass the time until the next "urgent" job comes in...

1 to 2 days without work are a good thing, I would never catch up my bookkeeping otherwise. Most weeks I work overtime just keeping up with translation, and never feel like putting in the extra hours for bookkeeping. Day 3, I catch up on nagging personal tasks. Day 4, I start worrying and cleaning things - unless it is a nice day in the summer, in which case I go to the beach and worry.

First of all, it's been awhile since I've had a really long period without work, but I can remember a couple of times in the past when I went for a month or more with practically nothing. I had some money saved up, though, so it wasn't a problem.
These days I'm usually working on a book, and then take other jobs as they come in. If there's a slow period, I don't worry because I live alone, very simply (meaning don't spend much money), and also sock away money in case there's a dry s...
