I know this simply as (comparing against a) standard, although DIN also uses etalon. The British use of etalon appears to deviate; I would be a little wary of it.

Ein Normal ist ein Referenzmaß, das von der PTB bereitgehalten wird. Flow prover bezieht sich auf Gasmessungen. Dies scheint hier nicht der Fall zu sein.

: primary standard ist Urmaß, Urnormal. Gibt es nur an ganz wenigen Stellen. Auf keinen Fall in einer Firma.
