EMR

German to English Medical Medical (general) Gynecology
In German medical report of woman with endometriosis, in transvaginal ultrasound image report:
"TVS: Uterus gestreckt bis retroflektier73x51mm, EMR 7mm; Adnex rechts 36x22mm"
What would "EMR" stand for in this type of exam and what would it be in English?

Thank you!

Thanks, Susanne Thanks, Susanne, for the additional information and reference. I agree, I also did not think the resection should be followed by a measurement, it makes more sense that it would measure an anatomical structure as you say. However, the patient did undergo an endometrial resection and we cannot figure out what else the "R" would stand for, so I am still undecided. I already translated it as endometrial resection but am not sure.

Thanks!
Stephen

I think 'EMR' refers to an anatomical structure; I don't think a procedure would be included here, followed by '7 mm'.

Please take a look at this reference; there are 2 occurences for 'EMR' (EM might refer to 'endometrium' but I don't know what 'R' stands for; it might refer to the endometrial thickness (which would be abbreviated 'ED', though); but it can't be 'Resektion', as it's the wrong gender.

According to the second reference, the patient is 'virgo' so I wonder if a resection is likely in this case.

@Stephen I think the measurement refers to the extent of resection. http://www.obgyn.net/hysteroscopy/hysteroscopy.asp?page=/hys...

Endoskopische Mukosaresektion reply from asker Harald, Thanks for the suggestion. This does fit the context except I didn't know if it would be normal to have that followed by a measurement (7mm in this case). If that is normal, than I believe you are right.
No samples are directly mentioned, but there is a "histology" section that discusses the endometriosis. A "Retroperitoneale Resektion" had been performed of uterus, right adnexa and sigma. So apparently the EMR is referring back to that, is it normal to give the measurement?
endoskopische Mukosaresektion?? ...you will find several references for that in German.
Still, does this work in your context??
Does the report mention any (biopsy/mucosa) samples?
