Info-Mail

Deutsch > Englisch Marketing
Vorstandvorsitzender xxx hatte mit einer Info-Mail alle Mitarbeiter weltweit eingeladen, die xxx-Feier aktiv mitzugestalten.

What is an Info-Mail? I've never heard of them in the UK. Can I just say email or do I need to be more specific? Thanks for your help.

rephrase

The chairman has sent out an e-mail (providing information and) asking all employees ...

Don't think there is any real hidden meaning in the 'info' bit!

email memorandum

Adding memorandum makes it sound more official, like a notification to all employees.

\"The following day, on August 26, 1998, Plaintiffs claim that Davis sent an email memorandum to all Central Cluster principals stating:
\'I want to alert all of you of our district legal position....\' \"

From Merriam-Webster:
memorandum: ... \" a communication that contains directive, advisory, or informative matter\"

...had asked via email...

1. es ist keine wirkliche Einladung (eher Aufforderung)
2. es ist eine Info i.S.v. Aufforderung

Na ja, Info-Email gibt es nicht wirklich, es ist einfach eine Email, die Infozwecken dient:-)
Peer comment(s):

neutral Michele Johnson : The Vorstandsvorsitzender asks via email? Sounds too personal/inofficial to me, like saying "The Pope told me via email" or "Bill Gates asked him via email"

ok, the German 'Info-Email' does not sound very formal either! As a German-Italian who has worked for a number of US companies, that's what I have experienced. Only in conservative circles I would insist on a conservative term. That's my humble opinion...
agree vafo : maybe sent circular letter by email
