German term

beim Einstallen in den Maststall

German to English Social Sciences Livestock / Animal Husbandry
agriculture and livestock isn't my thing. Can someone help me with this part of the sentence?! I can find no where what Einstallen (of boars/barrows) in den Maststall is in English.
Thanks,
Lis

It is always helpful to quote the entire sentence.

transfer to the finishing/fattening barn

After being born, the small pigs are kept in the rearing pen together with the sow until they are a few weeks old. They are then moved (Einstallen) to a different barn/building (Maststall) where they are fed until they reach the required weight for slaughtering (this is called finishing or fattening).

"At about 8 weeks, pigs are placed in fattening/finishing areas. Here they are fattened from 50 to 220-260 lbs., and referred to as feeder pigs. They are normally kept in pens of 15 to 40 pigs."

The full article is not a pleasant reading.
