German term

absetzen

German to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s) environmental law/recycling
Ok, this is a hugely important distinction in this contract. I really need to understand the use of abgesetzt in this context. Especially does it mean sold/dropped off/delivered or something else here?

If the license fees paid in the previous accounting year or the fee anticipated for the current accounting year exceed £ 100,000.00, the trademark user shall register and pay the corresponding fees for the *actual sales* of packaging bearing the trademark “xyz” to Generic Firma on a monthly basis, at the latest 14 working days after the end of the respective accounting month using the monthly sales registration form provided for this. The *actual sales* shall be registered and the corresponding fees paid for the first time in the month following the introduction of the packaging to the market.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks y'all. Just curious but why didn't the author use verkaufen/veräussern etc.? Just personal preference or something specific like Brigitte mentions below?"

German term (edited): absetzen (context)

sell

In German, one does differentiate between "absetzen" (sales measured in quantities of goods) and "umsetzen" (sales measured in the value of goods, e.g. $, EUR, or whatever). Here the text talks about sales of quantities (i.e. packs).
Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : past participle needed in this context

I know! But "absetzen" is the infinitive and that needs to be translated into the infinitive "sell". The asker did not write "abgesetzt".
