German term
Bereich A + B
German to English
Science
Food & Drink
Lebensmittelverarbeitung / Hygiene
This is from product details for cleaning and disinfectant products (from a website). Many of the products are officially approved (or gelistet nach DGHM/DVG) and some are specifically described as:
"in der Lebensmittelverarbeitung im Bereich A + B einsetzbar".
I've not been able to track down the Bereiche A and B in a conclusive context and don't know (a) who has defined them or (b) whether there are equivalent (English) terms in international use.
I'll be grateful for any help.

explanation
This refers most likely to the "Wirkungsbereiche" A, B, and C for disinfectants as defined (as far as I know) by the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin: A bacteria and fungi, B viruses, C spores. I don't know about any corresponding international terms however.

Comment: "Thanks to all. Anne helped most with her reference to the RKI, but Doris's comments were also very helpful. [They definitely weren't purely internal categories in this case, Frosty, but that idea was also worth considering.]"

Belasteter Bereich, weniger belasteter Bereich

in the areas A + B
Could it perhaps be that A + B are company internal definitions, based on the potency of the products? Many moons ago I used to flog chemical cleaning products and amongst my customers were bakeries, slaughterhouses, sweet factories and suchlike. Now, a product that was indispensible in say a slaughterhouse was of no use, possibly damaging even, in a liquorice allsorts works! Conversely, the stuff used in the sweetie factory was of very limited application in the slaughterhouse. It might be worth asking the client!

So I'm probably going to have to refer to the German classification rather than trying to find an international equivalent.
