German term

firmeneigene Angaben

German to English Law/Patents Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng
"In der Silikonölemulsion der Firma XZY sind nach ***firmeneigenen Angaben*** nichtionische Emulgatoren und Konservierungsstoffe enthalten."

Based on the context I think that "firmeneigen" is not meant in the sense of "proprietary", but wants to point out that the information (Angaben) is coming from the company itself.

I am currently stuck with "according to the company's information", but feel that this phrase refers to information ABOUT the company rather than information coming FROM company, but can't think of a better (and less ambiguous) translation.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Seems like a reasonable solution.

This is how I might phrase out the whole sentence:

"Citing company sources, Company XYZ says its silicon emulsion contains only non-ionic emulsifiers and preservatives."

Not sure why anybody would feel compelled to 'avoid' the word sources in this context. It's quite unambiguous, in my opinion. But don't take my word for it. See how news outlets would handle this:

"Aiming for greater transparency following an organized-crime scandal, Mizuho Financial Group plans to adopt a U.S.-style corporate governance structure by next June, the Nikkei reports, citing company sources.

Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : could be taking it to places not in the German/suggests it's not a straightforward statement straight from the company. I'd avoid the use of the word sources.

Not sure what 'other places' this could take us to, if we look at the whole sentence?
