Discussion

David Hollywood Mar 19, 2018:
Of course it's "extracurricular activities" ... don't know what I was thinking when I posted mine so...
Katja Schoone (asker) Mar 17, 2018:
Electives are not what we mean with AG We do have these as well, but it is not the same. There are no grades for AGs, but for electives. Electives are called Wahlfächer in this report. They are not obligatory, but if you choose to participate you get a grade for these subjects.
Herbmione Granger Mar 17, 2018:
These are not electives (courses). Please read the entries below.
Edith Kelly Mar 17, 2018:
herbalchemist should I post as an answer? IMO L'man's answer is not to the point.
Herbmione Granger Mar 17, 2018:
"Electives" is still used. It means courses outside of the required/core curriculum courses that a student may choose.
Edith Kelly Mar 17, 2018:
electives that's what it was called when my kids were in the US
Herbmione Granger Mar 17, 2018:
I prefer "environmental." Fairtrade "committee" suits your description.
Katja Schoone (asker) Mar 17, 2018:
@herbalchemist Thx. So it is environmental club not environment club, right? That's howvI found it in the first pkace. The Fair Trade AG sells fairtrade products at school and organises information campaigns at school events (summer party, christmas bazar and the like)
Herbmione Granger Mar 17, 2018:
We mainly had clubs, including Environmental Club and Drama Club, unless it was Honor Society or Art Honor Society (separate from Art Club) or [name of magazine], the organization that put together the school art and literary magazine, or school divisions of established organizations, like Habitat for Humanity.
Not sure what to do about Fair trade. Maybe Fairtrade committee.

Wendy Streitparth Mar 17, 2018:
The SHS Drama Society is the after school organization that produces the fall play, talent shows and spring musical.

Katja Schoone (asker) Mar 17, 2018:
@both Thanks. So it is environment and not environmental? and drama club rather than drama grouo?
Wendy Streitparth Mar 17, 2018:
For the UK, you would probably have to use various terms. As Andrew says "extra-curricular activities", drama society, fair trade group, environment club and orchestra.
Herbmione Granger Mar 17, 2018:
for the US "Extracurricular activities" is good for the heading.
In a study group, students help each other with homework and with preparing for tests (studying).
I think "drama club" is more common than "drama team."
Katja Schoone (asker) Mar 16, 2018:
My solutions for the time being Participation in study groups:
drama group
Fairtrade team
Environmental club
Orchestra

When were your 'days' and what was your location? 'Electives' unheard of in the UK. As I said in the Discussion Box, you will never get agreement in Education questions between commentators from different countries and systems.

agree Björn Vrooman : This one's the same in the States: http://college.usatoday.com/2011/12/22/college-admissions-im... Many focus on sports.
