Dietl/Lorenz Deutsch-Englisch : Akontozahlung = payment on account

i believe it means mainly the transfer of money from one account to another, without using cash. In austria, the term used implies a 'down payment' or 'partial payment', or an undefined payment 'against the payers' account'.
