FULL CONTEXT:
The elder performing the anointing makes a brief declaration of the sacrament directly to the person, such as: “Kathy, in the name of Christ I anoint your head. We are thankful for the faith and expectation present in this moment, and place upon you this powerful symbol of the overflow of God’s love.” Immediately, the same person continues with a prayer directed to God such as, “O Lord, we ask that your Spirit come into our lives and make us one in the blessing of our sister. In Christ we pray, Amen.”
The elder performing the anointing finishes the prayer and, leaving hands on the person’s head, makes space for the hands of the other elder, who performs the confirmation of anointing.
