Това е превод на част от "Беулф". Превод на израза? Явно е някакъв кенинг. Очевидно става дума за лодка/кораб, но не го намерих сред преведените кенинги. Но все пак да попитам.

Това е превод на част от "Беулф". Превод на израза? Явно е някакъв кенинг. Очевидно става дума за лодка/кораб, но не го намерих сред преведените кенинги. Но все пак да попитам.

Или „кораб, разбиващ вълните”. Ако търсите по-силен образ, мисля че предложението на invguy дава красив образ, единствено ме смущава „плувец”. Може би „кораб с огърлица от пяна”.
А ето и един превод на Манол Глишев, който според endorion.org се очаква да излезе в близките една-две години:
Воден изкусно, дълбоко нагази
корабът. Ето че вятър поде го,
в птица крилата превърна го сякаш,
с гръд - бяла пяна.

One of the most remarkable facets of Beowulf, and one of the reasons for its popularity, is its use of kennings, or extreme personification. For example, rather than use the term "ocean," the poem would use "swan-road;" rather than "water-churning boat," "foamy-necked floater."<br>
