Czech term
dvojí bydlení
Czech to English
Law/Patents
Law (general)
Is this a standard term used in divorce or 'child residence' cases?
The context: a couple who are separated (not yet divorced).
... otec navrhoval, aby matka se s dětmi vrátila do jejich společného doma, kde je možnost dvojího bydlení.
'split residence' came to mind, with the idea that the house might be divided in two.
On the other hand, there's the term 'shared residence' (used in the UK), which means that the child lives some of the time with one parent, and some of the time with the other. As far as I know, 'joint residence' means the same thing.
Does 'dvojí bydlení' mean something like this?

That's I would go for.

Comment: "Thank you, Rad and everyone who contributed. The 'separate households' option seems appropriate here. The emphasis in the text as a whole is on 'separation' rather than 'living together', and this is in line with all the examples of 'dvojí bydlení' that I've found, which refer to living in two different places."
