French term

S.T.O.N.

French to English Law/Patents Law (general) Legal professions (France)
S.T.O.N. xxxx et yyy, Notaires

I am presuming this is a new form of professional partnership of some kind. I am famillar with CCP and SELARL but cannot find STON anywhere.

Can anyone help with this acronym please?
Proposed translations (English)

@ all Well "société" has a wider ambit then "company" imo. I see Bridge's solution as sensible. An SCP is a form of "société" buit I would not call it a company, even though it is an incorporated partnership. Agree with mchd if by "partenariat" he means a simple unincorporated partnership.
Mpoma Dec 17, 2021:
Partnership? That's an interesting question raised there by mchd. Bridge does not hesitate to translate many types of société as "partnership" (SCP = "professional partnership").

OTOH I'm not clear why you (AllegroT) are so sure this is not a form of company. Could you explain?
mchd Dec 16, 2021:
Un partenariat n'a pas d'existence légale, une SCP est un statut juridique - voir définition dans votre précédente question.

@ mpoma Thanks! This was literally staring me in the face. Elusive as you say. In translating the acronym into intelligible English I am now faced with "société" which of course is not a company (as we "over here" know it) but a partnership (société civile professionelle) - I think I am permitted the license to say that, no?

company holding a notarial office

Société Titulaire d'un Office Notarial

Slightly elusive little feller ... but smoked him out in the end.

Thanks
agree Daryo : also shows that the "holder" of the licence to practice is "la Société Civile Professionnelle", not the individual "Notaires"
