French term
opérations d'expertise
French to English
Law/Patents
In French, this refers to appraisal operations AND proceedings. The problem arises when both are apparently referred to in the same sentence: "Déclarer l'ordonnance ... commune à la Société XXX, pour voir cette dernière être convoquée aux ***opérations d'expertise*** à venir pour y apporter tous éclaircissements utiles et afin notamment ***qu'elles puisse lui être déclarées opposables.***" Looking for a point of reconciliation between the two.

Comment: "Thanks, it worked. I was particularly having problems with a usage similar to Dan's (which was beautifully documented, but we run up against the same problems again)."

(forensic) analysis operations
This FR expression is not always used in relation to an assessment/appraisal in an insurance context.
When an expert is appointed by a court to analyse someone's mobile phone and find all the data in it, for example, you wouldn't talk about "appraisal".
I.e. it's not always about determining monetary value of damage.
